Welcome to the National Gunsmiths Association website!
Please feel at home and explore all of the pages of our site!
We want you to make any comments or suggestions you may
have for us!

National Gunsmiths Association was created to provide
association and fellowship for Armorers & Gunsmiths in the
United States.

The association provides an Armorer & Gunsmith
certification program and a National Registry of Armorers &
Gunsmiths, The registry is publicly accessible to enable
prospective customers to be able to locate Armorers &
Gunsmiths in their area.

Certification and national registry listing is awarded based
upon documented education, training and experience as an
Armorer or Gunsmith.

An important aspect of our certification program includes
documentation of knowledge, skills and abilities that have
been attained through experience which was a formerly
unavailable program. This area of certification documents
supervision and guided practice which has been
accomplished by a person who has worked under a licensed
gunsmith. The program documents apprentice, journeyman,
practical and master gunsmith accomplishments.
Experience must be verifiable and documented.

The registry listing is also open to Hobbyist Gunsmiths which
will foster sharing of knowledge, skills, and abilities within
the hobby and serve to enable communication among the
hobbyist group. Hobbyist are not certified but they are listed
on the registry as individuals who practice the hobby of
gunsmithing which enables hobbyist to share information
and get help from fellow hobbyist.

Please feel free to explore our site, and provide any
comments or feedback you feel is appropriate.

National Gunsmiths Association  was founded to provide  armorers and gunsmiths with
an opportunity to have their knowledge, skills and abilities certified. The National
Registry provides visibility and enables armorers and gunsmiths to be located by
customers.

As a member of the association you are able to get the credit that you deserve, with
recognition of your experience and training. The benefit to those seeking employment
will be enhanced with certification and national registry status.

You will also get national advertising of your talents and abilities, and this mechanism
serves as an excellent advertising medium.

Before the creation and development of National Gunsmiths Association there was
really no method of getting knowledge, skills and abilities certified, outside of a
seminar, class or school certification. Now you have an organized association which
offers both certification and national registry. We welcome your interest in the
association and invite you to become a member!

ACTUAL E MAIL MESSAGES:

I would like to obtain a list of National Gunsmith Association members  in
the Sacramento, California area. I have several firearms that need work
and would like to deal with a member of NGA. I think a member would be
more inclined to be skilled and proud of his/her work. If you have such
information you could either send it snail mail or email as a reply to  this
GB ad. Thanks,

My father has several old treasures needing repairs, but has serious trust
issues since the old timer at McBrides in Austin, TX is no longer there. He
has had some bad experiences with “gunsmiths” in the past so I am
trying to find a way of locating “REAL” gunsmiths. I know…. some of the
best gunsmiths are the ones that learned the hard way, not by going to
school for it. But you have to agree that they are thinning out and we
have no choice but to trust the ones that have gone to school for it. Can
you help me find some old timers and some youngsters to chose from in
the Austin, TX area. 78750 is the main Austin zip code. He would drive as
far as 50 miles.

Brownell's Establishes Brownells Business Advantage For
Gunsmiths

As part of their continued dedication to the success of gunsmiths, Brownells® takes great pride in
announcing the first  stage of a multifaceted business program designed specifically to make gunsmiths and
gunshops more successful and profitable, the Brownells Business Advantage™ (BBA™).

Initial benefits of the program include: savings on credit card processing fees, business and product liability
insurance, procurement card rate savings, and discounts from UPS®. With their $100 annual membership
into the BBA (renewal rate is only $50/yr.), members can select any or all of the program’s benefits.

“We are absolutely delighted to offer a program that offers a very real advantage to our customers,” said
company Chairman and CEO Frank Brownell. “No similar programs can save members as much money or
provide as many benefits. We’ve used our relationships with First National Bank of Omaha and UPS to
provide our customers with a simple way to decrease costs, and that means an increase in their profits.”

One of the largest credit card providers in the United States, First National Bank of Omaha is responsible for
credit card processing portion of the program. BBA members can receive new processing equipment at no
charge or use their existing equipment. Members also will receive processing rates as low as 1.38 percent.

First National also can provide members with business procurement cards. Procurement cards offer shop
owners the options of either a low 3.5 percent Annual Percentage Rate or 1.25 percent cash back on all
purchases. Members can keep all of their existing bank accounts and do not need to transfer to First
National Bank of Omaha.

“The success of small, independent gunsmiths and gunshops often serves as a barometer for the future of
the firearms industry,” commented Pete Brownell, company president. “It’s not only important to Brownells,
but the industry as a whole to keep these businesses flourishing. The Brownells Business Advantage is
designed to help these businesses increase profits and stay in the black.”

In addition, BBA members receive a discounted rate on shipping through UPS. The discount is based on the
member’s individual weekly average and applies to inbound and outbound packages. Members with existing
UPS accounts can have their account transferred to the BBA program for free.

Business and product liability insurance is another feature of the BBA. Provided by AIG® and underwritten
by the Joseph Chiarello Company, the insurance is available in both Property and Commercial General
Liability. Currently, AIG insurance has the widest range of insurance products available to the firearms
industry. Additionally, the Joseph Chiarello Company will provide BBA members with the “Best Practices”
for safeguarding their business.

Gunsmiths and gunshop owners interested in the BBA can find more information or sign up online at www.
